Chop tomatoes into small pieces add chopped basil and the avocado cut into small pieces as well. Combine in a bowl with the olive oil and salt/pepper (a pinch of each should do it)

Citrus watermelon juice

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay but my baby has been sick this week. St the first time she’s had a fever and she is only just getting better. It’s so sad to see your baby hurting and not be able to do anything to make it better right away. Of course I try to stay as healthy as I can, and since I’m breastfeeding it’s important to keep juicing and eating really well.

Here is a fast juice that will keep you hydrated as well as give you a boost of vitamins and minerals to give you a pick me up. Vitamin c is overflowing in this citrus concoction!
Watermelon also ha a lot of vitamin c and a. It’s an antioxidant and is good for your eyes and gums.
Carrots have a lot of beta carotene and vitamin a. They are great for detoxing as they flush your kidneys. They are great for eyes and skin.

Overall this is an energy booster and good for immunity. It will be just the pick me up I need today!

1/4 watermelon de-seeded
5 carrots
1 large ruby grapefruit

Wash an cut to fit you machine

Acai smoothie

1 pack of acai frozen smoothie
1/2 large banana
3/4 cup peaches
1/4 cup pineapple
2 tablespoons agave nectar
1 cup almond milk (or non dairy substitute)

This smoothie was so good!. I made it to experiment and I wanted more and more! It was YUMMY!

Take a smoothie pack and defrost it. I ran it under hot water for a minute and it was perfect. Add the fruit(frozen) an then the other ingredients and blend in your mixer.

These are the pack of acai I use. There are two kinds, these and ones with guarana in them. Make sure to get these, as the guarana contains a lot of caffeine. It is made from a seed found in the amazon and is used as a natural energy booster.

Acai berries are found in Brazil and com from a type of palm tree. They have been used for centuries by indigenous tribes to treat ailments from ulcers, fevers, blood illnesses, to malaria.

Now people in Brazil have them puréed as a snack or for breakfast with granola an bananas. You can grab a bowl almost anywhere. It was one of the first things I tried when I was there! It’s good for you and tasty.

These berries are full of antioxidants, omega-6 and 9 fatty acids, magnesium, iron, and potassium. They also contain a fair amount o dietary fiber.

Studies are linking this berry to weight loss, and maintaining a healthy weight as it reduces the effects of a high fat diet. It’s also good for your skin and anti aging. Because it helps healthy cell growth. It’s good for your blood and mental health.

Of course any healthy diet will allow you to maintain a healthy body and mind. Some researchers will dispute these “superfoods” and their effects on your body. But your body is made up of what you eat and people who eat better naturally feel better. If you only eat meat and chips and heavy items of course you won’t have as much energy because your body needs more time and energy to digest these things. Healthy superfoods require less energy to digest and are absorbed faster into your system adding to what’s there and giving you a boost of nutrients.

Hopefully you will love this smoothie as much as I do and add it to your weekly routine! It’s great as a breakfast or for a workout. It hydrates and adds energy, plus it’s yummy- did I say that already?

Cashew Milk by Blueprint

Hi everyone! Sorry I didn’t post yesterday, but I’ve been working on some great new recipes and I want them to be perfect (taste testing rocks!) before I post them!

In the meantime, what better to do when baking but drink healthy juices?

I’ve bought a few items from the company Blueprint before, but this one is my favorite! Why? Because its tasty and healthy!

Now we all know there are good fats and bad fats, and nuts are definitely a good fat! Cashews have mainly unsaturated fat, the same kind you find in olive oil! Great for your cardiovascular system.
When I first bought this milk I said oh god! I’m not drinking this it’s full of fat! But please don’t let that throw you! It has 2 servings, so just drink half and save! (Although its yummy and hard to resist)

Native to Brazil, this nut grows in many places in the modern world.

See that green part on the bottom? There is your nut!

These nuts in raw, un-salted form are excellent for your mental health and for people with diabetes! This little nut can lower your triglycerides. People who eat nuts 1-4 times a week are at lower risk for coronaries, and blood illnesses in general.
And studies are showing that people who eat nuts are actually less likely to gain weight or be obese! They help with bone growth and strength due to magnesium, and can help prevent gallstones, which no one wants….

Helping to keep your body healthy is so important and having a healthy body promotes a healthy mind! And cashews can help your mind too.
Having a small serving can ward off depression an anxiety. Don’t believe me right? Well, this nut can boost your
tryptophan levels. This turns into niacin, an acid in your body that helps your neurotransmitters. Very scientific, I know. Basically they help your brain stay balanced. Pretty amazing for such a little nut!

I would recommend this milk to anyone. It’s so tasty and good for you, or just have a few cashews every day! Or you can make your own milk, which I will
definitely be trying!

Green Citrus Detox

1 Grapefruit
5 large Swiss chard leaves
5 kale leaves

Juice all ingredients in your juicer!

Grapefruit is a citrus so will have that vitamin c, but it’s also an anti-inflammatory, and it will help your cardiovascular system as well. It helps to prevent the damage done by free radicals in your system. Things like stroke, heart disease and even asthma can be controlled by a healthy diet, so eat well every day! (It also helps those common colds 🙂 )

Swiss chard is a member of the beet family and is a common plant in Europe. Why is it so good as a detox? Because it contains vital nutrients like antioxidants and vitamin c. It is similar to spinach in its benefits, and it has one of the highest levels of vitamin k in veggies!

Vitamin k is great for building strong bones, and it is also a brain booster. Studies have shown it helps neurons in the brain related to Alzheimer’s disease.

It is also rich source of omega-3 fatty acids; vitamin-A, and flavonoids anti-oxidants like ß-carotene. Carotenes convert to vitamin A inside the body.

Basically this juice is going to help your digestion but also help to build up your immune system and give you a stable dose of health promoting vitamins necessary for a strong body!

When picking chard, look for leaves featuring crispy, crunchy, brilliant dark-green color.
This veggie is harvested from June to October, so it will be fresh in a mid-year juice or recipe!

It is best used as fresh as can be, so try to buy and use as soon as you can. It is also similar to spinach in that it contains oxalic acid, combined with high vitamin k, it’s best not to eat/drink large amounts everyday.

That said, this juice is high on my list for the start of a detox program. You really want to begin the week with a system cleanser, and this one is great because of all the nutrients!

Enjoy your juice!

Sweet Potato Supercombo

1 Med/lg sweet potato
2 carrots (or you can use yellow heirloom for a seasonal summer twist!)
2 apples

1 teaspoon maca

Juice the above fruits and add the maca at the end.

Sweet potatoes are super easy to digest, high in fiber, beta carotene and help soothe your tummy. They have an alkalizing effect on body, meaning they effect the acidity levels of your system. This is thought in holistic medicine to prevent disease or infection in the body, such as cancer, kidney stones, or urinary tract infections.

*the sweet potato is actually NOT a member of the potato family! It is part of the morning glory or Convolvulaceae, where as a potato is nightshade.

*above: sweet potato flower

Carrots are high in vitamins and minerals. They help your immune system, skin, digestion, and even hair!

The apples give the juice a light fresh taste. They make a great base in any juice, but in our Supercombo they really add that detoxifying element, lowering your cholesterol and helping your skin get that “glow”.

Maca is a superfood from the Andes. It is packed with potassium, low in sodium. Has a healthy mix of iron manganese, iodine as well as 19 amino acids. ( + it’s said to be an aphrodisiac)

Please buy organic and fresh! This juice is great for a detox as it will help to restore essential vitamins to your body as well as even out your system!

The Green Dr.

3 Granny Smith apples
Half bunch kale
Half bunch spinach
( the half bunches are about a good handful of greens)

Kale is packed with vitamins A and C, minerals as well as anti-cancer nutrients which boost white blood cell counts.

Spinach is rich in vitamin c, iron, beta carotenes, is a health booster and it is regenerative. It also helps your liver and your circulation! But it is high in oxalic acid, which interferes with calcium absorption so don’t drink large amounts.

*Pick small bright green leaves

This juice helps give you clean skin, is a bone builder, and a healer! Basically it’s a health extravaganza… Build a healthy body inside and out, the Dr. Is in!!!
