Cranberry smoothie

1/2 cup of fresh cranberries
1/2 cup peaches
1/4 cup raspberries
1/2 cup guava juice or apple if you don’t have guava
1/4 cup coconut milk
Tablespoon of vegan protein powder
Almond milk to top off

I used fresh cranberries and frozen berries, all organic. Just because its cold out doesn’t mean we can’t use fall fruits to make healthy smoothies!

I use plant fusion vegan protein powder. I love the taste and it is soy, dairy and gluten free.

Here is what the site has to say about it:
PlantFusion is a nutritionally-complete plant protein supplement that happens to be highly digestible AND free of common food irritants. The combination of four exceptional plant proteins scores a perfect 1.0 on the Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS). PDCAAS is the gold standard for rating the quality of protein for human nutrition.

Just combine all ingredients and blend! The coconut milk gives it a nice rich flavor. I topped it with almond milk because its les fattening than a whole can of coco milk ๐Ÿ˜‰

Summer pineapple watermelon juice

Pineapple watermelon juice:

1/4 of a seedless watermelon
1 small pineapple

Slice the pineapple into spears so it will fit in your juicer!

This juice is amazingly yummy! It is also so hydrating. Watermelon is fabulous for hydration and can keep you going on a super hot day. It will boost your energy and is also good for immunity and skin! The sweetness of the watermelon perfectly complements the tartness of the pineapple.

To pick a pineapple, choose fresh-looking pineapples with green leaves and a firm shell. Smell it to see how fragrant it is. If it smells like sweet fruit it is ready to go.

We all know that pineapple contains bromelain, and it’s actually on of the only naturally edible sources of bromelain. It helps to break down proteins and this is a wonderful digestive aid. Watermelon has a lot of vitamins and minerals that help with inflammation such as in your joints, as do all melons. They an also help to clean your kidneys by removing salts and other build ups.

So this juice will keep you cool and clean your system. Helping you to detoxify and give you a boost!

Veggie medley juice

2 apples
1/2 cucumber
4 carrots
Small Bunch spinach
Small bunch kale
4 stalks celery

Wash all veggies and cut to fit your juicer. This makes enough for 4 glasses of juice, so you can cut in half if you like. We made a lot because my husband was cleansing and took some to work.

This juice is great for staying healthy as part of your everyday diet. It includes some staples in juicing.

The cucumber has lots of water and yields quite a bit of juice. It’s full of electrolytes and will keep you hydrated. It’s great for skin an hair, and can also be good for a hangover…..;)

Celery is also full of hydrating h2o! It’s good for your blood pressure and has alkaline properties, that help your blood. It’s also good to have when breastfeeding, not only for hydration but also for vitamins. It has a great supply of vitamin k. (Newborns are required to have this in shot form bc they don’t had sufficient amounts, so mommies can drink up!)

The apples and carrots add a sweetness that compliments the greens. Overall it’s a light and refreshing juice that is packed full of vitamins and minerals essential for any diet.

This juice will help digestion and detox your system but also give you nutrients to build up your system. I don’t always eat my kale so drinking it works great for me!

It’s so important to stay not only hydrated, but to get nutrients that your body might be loosing in the heat. It’s over 90โ€ขs f this week, so we will be having this juice a lot.

If you want to save your juices you can use citric acid. It’s available in health food stores in the baking areas. It will keep the juice fresh, although it is still best to drink the same day, if not right away.

This is the kind I have. I just add to the juice and then keep it in glass jars until I’m ready! Simple.

Oh, and today was our first swim class! pictures and a post about that to come!

Enjoy your juice!

Carrot/Apple Juice

I call this juice the Tres Amigos because its three basic ingredients create a perfect harmony of good health for your body!

2 apples (I used gala this time)
3 medium carrots
1 orange

Wash each item well. Cut all to fit your juicer. Remove the seeds from the apples, but you can leave the skin.

This is a really simple but tasty juice. I drink it often because I’m breastfeeding and it gives me extra vitamins and keeps me hydrated.

For such a simple juice it has a lot to offer. I’ve touched on the benefits of citrus and apples before, but Carrots are really great for juicing. They are naturally sweet an you an add them to any juice that you might find too bitter.

Carrots are great if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, of have a weak immune system. They are also really good for children, as they help with the growth of healthy bones. They are great for your skin an your eyes!
They are a good source of vitamin A which is great for your liver and eyes. They are a good source of vitamin B, C, E and beta-carotene.

New studies are linking carrots to the prevention of certain cancers such as colon cancer. Carrots have a compound that prevents their roots from growing fungi. Lab tests are showing that this compound in diets lowers colon cancer rates.

And of course carrots are said to have anti-aging properties. They have vitamins that help keep your skin looking great! We ladies spend so much on beauty products to keep us looking fresh and young, who knew that carrots could help too?!

Have this juice anytime. It will keep you energized and feeling good. It’s kind of a “keep the doctor away” mix!
